Broadlane Awards Purchasing Agreement to HealthLine Solutions

HealthLine to Provide Inventory Management Systems to Broadlane's Healthcare Provider Customers

SAN FRANCISCO and DALLAS - May 20, 2002 -- Broadlane Inc. and HealthLine Solutions Inc., a Texas-based provider of specialized healthcare inventory systems, today announced that Broadlane has awarded a five-year contract for HealthLine to provide cart inventory management systems to Broadlane's healthcare customers.

The contract provides Broadlane customers with access to HealthLine's Visual Cart Inventory Management System (VisCIMSTM), a real-time, bar code-based system designed to efficiently and economically manage hospital inventory and billing requirements. The VisCIMS System simplifies inventory management and patient billing by quickly matching bar codes of medical supplies with the patients who require them.

HealthLine was awarded the contract as part of Broadlane's intensive contract selection process, which focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective products and services to Broadlane's hospital and other healthcare customers. To ensure that it selects the best vendors for its customers, Broadlane solicits input and direction from key end users, such as physicians and nurses, as well as hospital business leaders.

Suppliers find particular value in contracting with Broadlane because of the company's strategy of involving clinical end users from the beginning of the contacting process. That means that buyers ultimately have a much deeper commitment to the contracts than is typical, and true market share is driven to the supplier.
